Xavier Restrepo sets Miami Hurricanes’ all-time receiving yards record
Xavier Restrepo stands alone in the Miami Hurricanes’ record book.
With his 66-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter against the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, Restrepo has supplanted Santana Moss as the Hurricanes’ all-time receiving yards leader.
At the time of the catch, Restrepo had 2,573 yards. The catch also tied Mike Harley’s school record of 182 career catches.
Restrepo jumped over two of the Hurricanes’ all-time legends — Moss (2,547), Reggie Wayne (2,510) — in one game in the process.
Restrepo entered the season ranked eighth in catches (131) and 15th in receiving yards (1,717) before steadily climbing both lists each week.
He caught seven passes for 112 yards and a touchdown in Miami’s opener against the Florida Gators which moved him to seventh in catches and 12th in receiving yards.
A four-catch, 104-yard, one-touchdown in the Hurricanes’ home rout of Florida A&M to move to 10th all-time in Hurricanes history in receiving yards.
Restrepo then had three more catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns in UM’s shutout of Ball State before eclipsing the 2,000-yard mark in Miami’s win over USF with a six-catch, 99-yard performance.
He continued his strong season once conference play began, catching 23 passes for 348 yards and another touchdown in Miami’s first three Atlantic Coast Conference games — wins over Virginia Tech, Cal and Louisville — to move up to third all-time in receiving yards (2,427) and second in catches (174) entering the Duke game.
