As the Miami Hurricanes start fall camp ahead of the 2024 season, they have remained hot on the recruiting trail.

The Hurricanes picked up their latest commitment for the Class of 2025 on Friday in Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna defensive lineman Donta Simpson, who announced his oral pledge on social media.

“Blessed and thankful to ALL through my journey! Gods timing is everything! I am officially 1000% committed to the MIAMI HURRICANES!! #GoCanes #respectmydecision” Simpson, who flipped his commitment from Maryland, wrote on his personal X account.

Simpson is rated as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports composite ranking and is listed as the No. 83 overall defensive lineman in the class.. He recorded 43 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks as a junior last season for Chaminade-Madonna, which won its third consecutive state title.

The Hurricanes now have 20 commits in their 2025 recruiting class. Six of those 20 have committed over the past month, including Las Vegas Bishop Gorman offensive lineman Seuseu Alofaituli, Bradenton IMG Academy linebacker Gavin Nix, Jacksonville Mandarin athlete Hylton Stubbs, New Iberia (Louisiana) Westgate cornerback Jaboree Antoine and Phenix City (Alabama) Central wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw.

Simpson is also the second Chaminade-Madonna player in Miami’s 2025 class, joining four-star cornerback Chris Ewald.
