Miami Hurricanes rising: UM leaps to No. 12 in AP Poll after big win over Louisville

The Miami Hurricanes looked dominant in front of the entire nation late Saturday by defeating Louisville 47-34 at Cardinals Stadium.

Now, the AP Top 25 Poll voters have awarded them for their performance.

UM (2-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) rose from No. 17 to No. 12 in the AP rankings on Sunday.

The Canes moved up four spots to No. 14 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

Louisville, previously ranked No. 18, fell to No. 24 in the AP. The Cardinals dropped out of the coaches poll.

Miami, meanwhile, is preparing to play unranked Florida State (0-1, 0-1 ACC) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. The Seminoles lost 16-13 to Georgia Tech (1-1, 1-0) in their Sept. 12 opener.

The UM-FSU game will again be televised nationally by ABC, and will again have ESPN College GameDay on hand.

This is the last week that the Big Ten Conference will not be included in the AP rankings, as they are set to begin playing football for the first time this season on Oct. 24. There were multiple Big Ten programs included in the preseason poll.
