Miami Hurricanes RB Joe Yearby gets a chance
Freshman running back Joe Yearby, who had a breakout performance with 120 all-purpose yards and scored on a 47-yard touchdown catch against Duke, could be in line for more work this week with starting tailback Duke Johnson still recovering from a sprained right ankle.
“Joe did a great job last week and certainly warrants consideration for more,” coach Al Golden said. “But I think it’s going to depend on Duke. It’s going to be those three just as it has been: Gus [Edwards], Duke and Joe."
He said Johnson was “protected” in Tuesday's practice, but should be “good to go” Wednesday.
▪ Golden said UM is moving forward this week without starting right tackle Taylor Gadbois and backup Kc McDermott, who were injured in Saturday's win over Duke.
