If you don’t vote on Tuesday, then don’t complain on Wednesday

Vote, because people died — beaten on America’s rural roads and urban streets, fired upon in foreign battlefields — for your right to do so. Show some respect.

Vote, if you were one of those young, committed people. Don’t let the passage of time since the February massacre cool your enthusiasm or lessen resolve to make a difference.

Vote, no matter your party — and especially if you’re an independent, who, unfortunately, was shut out of many of the decisions in the August primaries. Odds are, you and your fellow independents will be the dealmakers — and dealbreakers — in the final showdown.

Vote, even though the ballot is wicked long: 12 constitutional amendments, six charter questions in Miami-Dade County, referendums in — among other cities — Miami and Miami Beach and, of course, the marquee races for governor, the U.S. House and U.S. Senate. Plus, the Editorial Board has done a lot of the heavy lifting already, interviewing almost 100 candidates and delving into issues this election season in advance of making its recommendations.

Vote, because it’s not a popularity contest. Your health, your Social Security check, your drinkable water and so much more are at stake. Choose wisely.

Vote,  even if the line is long (See all of the above).

Vote, even if you’re a cynic or unmotivated. Remember, it’s not all about you.

Vote, because you’re an American. Act like it.
