A tropical storm is set to swoosh by South Florida on Monday, the day the Miami Dolphins are set to duke it out with the New York Jets.

The struggling Dolphins appear to at least be getting a break on bad weather. Forecasters say it likely won’t affect the game, as recent forecasts keep the worst impacts of now Tropical Storm Imelda offshore and far from Hard Rock Stadium. But some rain and blustery wind can’t be ruled out.

Ana Torres-Vazquez, a meteorologist at the Miami office of the National Weather Service, said Sunday that the bulk of the storm will be north of South Florida by Monday midday.

As of Monday morning, Imelda has moved even further to the east, minimizing impacts to Florida even more. The NWS forecast for Monday night included a 40% chance of rain and chances of wind gusts up to 25 mph — nothing far from ordinary South Florida weather.

“Right now, with the forecast as it stands, I don’t think it would be anything outside of normal,” Torres-Vazquez said Sunday.
