When will all this rain end in Miami? You’ll see a pattern. What the forecast shows
The rains came to South Florida over the weekend. And we’d better get used to it.
Here’s what to know this week:
Forecast
Rain chance: The National Weather Service’s forecast grid for South Florida is a solid gray Monday through Thursday. The sogginess started with a 60% rain and thunderstorm chance on Sunday. Rain chances increase to 70% on Monday, ticking down to 60% on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday will stay rainy, with a 70% chance of rain in the forecast.
What to expect: The South Florida rains will typically arrive by the afternoon Monday. On Tuesday, the Florida Keys can expect heavy storms on Tuesday.
On the water: High surf and small craft advisories are in effect until Wednesday morning. “Dangerous marine and beach conditions,” the National Weather Service in Miami reported.
Temperatures this week: Monday started out in the upper 60s, with the afternoon high not expected to reach 80. Forecasters expect warmer and more humid conditions midweek and later.
Weekend look ahead: Some good news: The long-term forecast predicts less rain over the weekend, with a 30% chance on Saturday.

▪ “It’s been rather dry over the past couple of weeks so to have chances of rain [every day,] this is probably the longest stretch within a couple of weeks,” meteorologist Chuck Caracozza told the Miami Herald.
▪ “Don’t put away your umbrella just yet.,” CBS News Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez told her viewers Monday morning.
What Sunday looked like
Flooding: An Easter downpour came with flooding to several parts of South Florida. Vulnerable areas from Miami-Dade to Palm Beach counties saw minor flooding on roads and in low-lying and poor drainage areas. The intense rain caused flooding on Interstate 95 and the Palmetto Expressway, with video shared on Twitter showing slow moving traffic amid the showers.

Advisories: On Sunday, the weather service issued advisories for Biscayne Bay, warning of waterspouts, wind gusts and small hail. Advisories would be issued Monday based on developments.
