Halloween weekend has glorious South Florida weather — but there is a howler out there

Weather-wise, will it be a hoot or a howl Halloween night in South Florida?

How does a glorious Halloween weekend sound?

Monday night from the Florida Keys through Palm Beach County promises to be clear with just a slight 10% chance of showers with a low temperature in the mid- to upper-70s so if you’re out and about in dinosaur costumes in the Grove, South Beach or on Duval Street you ought not swelter inside of them.

This group of dinosaurs howled on the streets of Coconut Grove on Halloween night in 2021. If they return on Oct. 31, 2022, the National Weather Service in Miami forecasts clear skies and comfy temperatures.

Not too much, anyway.

The weather promises to be pleasant the whole weekend, with highs in the mid-80s, lows in the mid-70s, and only a 30% rain chance on Saturday and 20% Sunday — and this dry pattern seems to carry over for the entire week.

There are some hazards to report, however. (You expect Halloween references without some “trick” aspect?)

The National Weather Service in Miami warns of a high rip current risk for coastal Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties through Sunday night.

Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water,” the weather service noted.

The Keys has its own specific hazard: a coastal flooding problem. Minor saltwater flooding of low-lying streets and lots is likely through the weekend.
