One person was killed in a fiery crash at Oakland Park Boulevard early Wednesday, deputies say.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to the single vehicle crash on Oakland Park Boulevard, near Dixie Highway around 1:18 a.m. When deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue arrived, they found the crashed car in flames, deputies said.

Rescue crews extinguished the flames. Video taken by TV news showed a charred and heavily damaged car against a pole in the area.

Deputies closed the eastbound and westbound lanes of Oakland Park Boulevard between Dixie Highway and Northeast Sixth Avenue for several hours during the investigation. The roads reopened shortly before 8 a.m.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t disclosed the person’s identity or provided any other information on what led up to the crash.
