Construction inspector dies after fall from overpass on SR 826
A construction inspector that fell off the Palmetto Expressway at an overpass near Northwest South River Drive Friday morning has died from his injuries, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The unidentified construction worker was inspecting work that had been done on the Palmetto overpass when he apparently slipped and fell about 25 feet onto South River Drive, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Joe Sanchez said.
The victim was taken to Ryder Trauma Center by Miami Dade Fire Rescue where he later died.
This is the second time in a week in which a construction worker has been injured on a Miami-Dade County road. A man plunged off State Road 836 on Oct. 11 after a truck toppled on its side at the edge of the expressway.
A construction worker was killed and another injured in February in a crash between their boom lift and a Metromover car.
