A man accused of slashing another man with a machete during a fight at a gas station told deputies he “felt bad” and drove the victim to a hospital, Florida authorities said.

Angel Ramos-Arce, 35, is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery causing bodily harm, according to Osceola Court court records.

A Circle K employee reported Ramos-Arce came into the Kissimmee store June 9 and started yelling at her, so she called her brother for help, deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office wrote in an arrest affidavit.

Her brother showed up and confronted Ramos-Arce, then the woman’s boyfriend also arrived and tried to get between the two men to keep them from fighting, according to deputies. Ramos-Arce then punched him in the face, deputies said.

Ramos-Arce told investigators the two men ganged up on him, so he went to his truck to get a machete to “intimidate” them, and they took off running, according to the report.

The victims said Ramos-Arce started chasing them with the machete and slashed the brother, deputies said. But Ramos-Arce said the brother tried to pull the machete away, and Ramos-Arce sliced his arm in the process, deputies said.

Ramos-Arce said he told him “to get into his truck so he could drive him to the hospital,” according to deputies.

The Circle K employee flagged down deputies to let them know Ramos-Arce was driving her brother to get medical help, investigators said.

The woman’s brother and her boyfriend both wanted to press charges, according to the report.

Kissimmee is part of the Orlando metropolitan area, about a 20-mile drive south from downtown.
