A lottery player from out of state turned $5 into a $1 million prize with a ticket sold at a Florida Wawa.

The New Yorker has now claimed her jackpot winnings, the Florida Lottery announced Feb. 5.

Lynn Lamanno of Long Island stopped by a South Florida Wawa at 20 Southwest 12th Avenue in Deerfield Beach and bought a Millionaire Maker scratch-off ticket for $5, lottery officials said.

Then she beat the 1-in-3,834,630 odds to land one of six top prizes of $1 million, according to the Florida Lottery.

The 58-year-old chose to receive her windfall as a one-time payment of $640,000 at the lottery office in West Palm Beach, officials said.

One top prize remains in the scratch-off game.

Deerfield Beach is about a 40-mile drive north from Miami.
