Where in the world is Jim Cantore? We found out where he’s tracking Idalia in Florida
Where in the world is Jim Cantore? As any fan of the famed Weather Channel meteorologist knows, wherever he is, you don’t want to be.
Well, sorry to break it you, Florida, but he’s here, following Idalia’s every move.
Cantore tweeted his travel plans Sunday night, telling followers that he’ll be hitting the ground with his producer Steve Petyerak and a crew to a yet to be determined location.
The location is as of now... Cedar Key.
Petyerak posted a snap of the beloved storm chaser posing in front of a gorgeous sunset in the historic small town on the Gulf Coast, projected to be where the Cat. 3 hurricane makes landfall Wednesday.
“Calm before the storm,” he wrote.
Cantore shared the post, writing, “Expecting record storm surge here!”
The intrepid weatherman, who has no issues taking selfies with basically anyone polite enough to ask, was also spotted at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Monday en route to Gainesville, about an hour’s drive to Cedar Key.

Sister Hazel rocker Ken Block posed with the “legend” in the terminal, and told his Facebook friends that the two men actually go way back.
Block revealed that he met the 59 year old back around 1995 when the newly formed alt band was in Atlanta for a show. They bumped into Cantore at a grocery store parking lot and ran over to give him a CD and T-shirt. Years later when they blew up, Block said, he remembered that day in the parking lot when they first met and congratulated them on their success.
“Always love seeing him over the years,” the “All for You” singer wrote. “And really appreciate the work he does to keep us all informed and safe!”

Speaking of keeping us informed and safe, Cantore will be doing just that over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday, when Idalia is expected to get real.
The TV vet’s latest Instagram story didn’t give much info, per usual. He just reshared a post from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety, which researches the impact of severe weather on communities, saying folks should always listen to evacuation orders.
“The goal of an evacuation is to move people out of the life threatening situations so always take them seriously,” it said.
