What’s the new water park at Disney World? Watch visitors deal with ankle-deep flooding

Walt Disney World Resort became Ariel’s domain Monday night as theme park visitors were forced to walk through ankle-deep water following heavy rain.

Videos circulating on social media show guests, many of them wearing ponchos, sloshing through flooded streets at Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory Monday night in the Orlando area, including Disney’s Lake Buena Vista, and estimates that four to five inches of rain fell.

“Flash flooding @WaltDisneyWorld @DisneyParks Hollywood Studios this eve. One cast member said he’d never seen the like in 17 years,” BBC weather presenter Sara Thornton, who was at Hollywood Studios on vacation, wrote on Twitter.

While it looked like some people couldn’t wait to escape the flooded park, running toward the exit, others appeared to enjoy it, skipping and playing in the flooded streets, videos posted by Thornton and other park guests on social media show. Some kids could be seen sitting and lying in the water, kicking their feet as if they were swimming in the Lazy River.

We’re sure Sebastian would agree. After all, he does tell Ariel that “it’s better down where it’s wetter.”
