Walmart employee dead after ‘targeted’ shooting in store’s parking lot, cops say
A Walmart employee has died after being shot in what police believe was a “targeted” attack at a Walmart Neighborhood Market in Florida.
The shooting happened Friday in the the parking lot behind the store at 6900 US Highway 19 in Pinellas Park.
Terrell Williams, 21, was on his break when police say a white sedan drove toward him. Two men got out of the car, shot him multiple times, then sped off in the car, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.
Williams was taken to Bayfront Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
“At this time we are working off the premise that this was a deliberate and targeted attack on the victim,” said Capt. Adam Geissenberger, police spokesman.
Detectives were still at the store investigating Friday afternoon.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our associate Terrell Williams,” Walmart said in a statement. “We are assisting law enforcement however possible.”
