Publix animal crackers have been recalled from stores in Florida and 6 other states
Publix announced a recall of one lot of GreenWise Organic Animal Crackers, which are organic but might contain something that can cause a major food allergy.
The lot with an expiration date reading “Feb 05 2023” might have coconut in it. That tree nut is not supposed to be there and, as such, isn’t listed among the allergens on the package.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the Publix-posted recall notice states.

The recall and recall notice are by animal cracker manufacturer Toufayan Bakery, which says the mistake was caused by a “temporary breakdown in the production and packaging processes.”
The crackers, in 8-ounce packages, went to stores in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia and Tennessee.
If you have these crackers and there’s no chance someone with a tree nut allergy will get into them or be around them, keep on munching. If that’s not the case, return them to the store for a full refund.
If you have questions about this recall, call Toufayan Bakery of Plant City at 813-754-5565.
