Here’s why nuts were recalled from Walmarts in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina

One lot of chopped walnuts sold under Walmart’s store brand has been recalled from stores in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina after a packing mistake put pecans where walnuts should be.

The company making this boo-boo: South Georgia Pecan Co.

The company-written, FDA-posted recall notice said, “a packging run of pecans was labled as Chopped Walnuts. People who have an allergy or sensitivity to pecans run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.”

If you’re fine with getting pecans when you expected walnuts and nobody with a pecan allergy might get into the pouch, do nothing. Otherwise, return the pouch to the store for a full refund.
