Panera chowder recalled in 12 states for a possibly ‘serious or life-threatening’ mistake
One lot of Panera at Home Southwest Corn Chowder has been recalled in 12 states for a serious food allergy issue.
Wheat is in the chowder, according to the recall notice by manufacturer Blount Fine Foods. Wheat isn’t declared among the ingredients on the package of the 16-ounce bowls.
That’s not a problem for most people. But “people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatneing allergic reactions if they consume this product.”
This covers lot No. 042122-2K with a use by date of 6/30/22. The lot went to California, Texas, New York, Iowa, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, Ohio, Virginia and Washington.
If you have the chowder and there’s no chance anyone with a wheat allergy will eat it, carry on. If the undeclared wheat might be a problem, return the bowl to the store for a refund or contact Blount Fine Foods.
If you have questions, call Blount at 866-674-4519, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Eastern time.
