A frozen vegetable got recalled the day before Thanksgiving. Testing found listeria
One lot of frozen TJ Farms Select Cauliflower in 16-ounce bags got recalled by Flagship Food Group after a Minnesota Department of Agriculture testing of a random sample found listeria.
The Flagship-written, FDA-posted recall notice says this covers lot No. 2077890089, which went to distributors in Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Which retailers bought from those distributors wasn’t detailed.
If you have this cauliflower, toss it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Those with questions can call Flagship at 800-292-9600, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Eastern time.
Listeria kills about 260 of the 1,600 Americans infected each year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says. In addition to senior citizens and children under 5 being the most vulnerable to salmonella’s worse effects, add pregnant women. They can suffer stillbirths and miscarriage. Listeria symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, high fever, severe headaches, stomachaches, stiffness, confusion and poor balance.
