A viral trend has teachers scared to tell students to turn to page 67 in their textbooks.

The trend “6-7” became popular from rapper Skrilla’s song “Doot Doot” where he repeated the lyric “6-7” and the audio clip was used across various internet platforms, according to Forbes.

From then, the meme spread like wildfire with it becoming part of NFL touchdown celebrations and NBA highlight reels.

Now, two numbers have teachers, along with the up and down hand motion that comes with the trend, fed up with their students – even causing some classrooms to ban the phrase altogether.

TikToker @Creative_cutolo created a list of officially banned words in her sixth grade English classroom with “6-7” being one of them, the Sept. 5 video showed.

Other teachers went old school when trying to keep the “6-7” chaos at bay.

A teacher, known as @Mermaid4teaching on TikTok, came up with a few ways to deal with the “6-7 fiasco,” she said in her Sept. 29 TikTok.

“I told my student that if they yell out 6-7 during main academic time and it interrupts the class, then for homework they have to write ‘I will not say six seven in class,’ six to seven times,” she said in the video.

The punishment doesn’t stop there, she said.

If students continue to say the phrase they’ll eventually find themselves jotting down the sentence 67 times, she said.

She’s also attempted a more relatable approach because “if you can’t beat them join them,” she said.

The teacher used the numbers as a call and response as a means to quiet down the classroom.

She says six, they say seven, she said.

Teacher and TikToker known as @Kellceyrobinson shared that the school where she works banned the phrase entirely, according to an Oct. 2 TikTok.

The TikToker said she was losing her mind by constantly hearing the phrase but now that school has banned it, the halls “sound different now,” she said.

Other teachers went with a completely different approach – accepting defeat and embracing the holy “6-7.”

TikToker @Jay.Wamsted decided he’s going to dress up as a sick seven for Halloween and hopes it’s “all the rage” come Oct. 31, according to an Oct. 14 TikTok.

The teacher came ready for the spooky season, because what’s scarier than a teacher’s take on a trend loved by middle schoolers?

TikToker @Julie_preece decided to have her own fun with the trend by pranking her students – every answer on the quiz was 67, she said in her Sept. 27 post.

Holding back her laughter, she tells her confused student, “I’m not allowed to help you,” the video showed.

As for what TikTok users said, some thought “this is the correct use of AI” and others were glad they never experienced this prank, with someone saying, “As someone who overthinks and HATES math. This woulda sent me into psychosis.”

The trend has even found its way to kindergarten classrooms, according to @Saraa_jamess’ Sept. 25 video.

@saraa_jamess can I be honest? & I must say, I think I live under a rock because I had no idea what 6-7 was until my kindergarteners started saying it in class DURING EVERY MATH LESSON hey, whatever they like I’m down for! As long as it keeps them engaged #teacher #teacherlife #kindergarten #67 #sarajames original sound - Sara James

“Can I be honest? & I must say, I think I live under a rock because I had no idea what 6-7 was until my kindergarteners started saying it in class DURING EVERY MATH LESSON,” she said.

When teaching her students how to count to 10, the teacher puts emphasis on 6 and 7, creating a frenzy among students, the video showed.

TikTok users went to the comments to share their thoughts on the teaching style.

“God forbid a teacher make learning fun for the kids in her class who clearly already know about the trend,” another wrote.

As for the teachers’ thoughts on the trend that remains steadily viral?

She made it known she was “down” to partake “as long as it keeps them engaged,” she said.
