‘Bed bugs’ viral TikTok trend isn’t about bugs at all. See the ‘cuddle bugs’
A new “bed bug” trend is causing TikTok’s baby fever to skyrocket.
Yes, you heard that right – these “bed bugs,” also known as “cuddle bugs,” are getting millions of views on TikTok.
TikTok user @Mommaa_gg posted a video captioned “Lookie a love bug,” where she asks her viewers to “Guys help what kind of bed bug is this?” Then she pans the camera to a smiley baby, the May 6 video showed.
Commenters were in agreement that the poster needed to stop posting the “extremely dangerous” bed bug as they’re “too young” to have a child.
Others poked fun that this bug in particular is “really bad,” so they should “hand it over.”
“This is a bug called the snuggle bug and it can cause symptoms like: baby fever and a heart attack from cuteness,” another wrote.
User @Ashlynnbrand posted her video May 7 to a song that’s been frequently used on TikTok recently titled “Pretty Little Baby” by Connie Francis.
“Guys, what kind of bed bug is this?! It keeps coming back,” she wrote before panning the camera to a bright-eyed baby that some said “kind of looks like Glenn Powell.”
Other users, even teenagers, had to remind themselves of their age when being struck with baby fever with one person saying, “I’m 17 I’m 17 I’m 17 I’m 17 I’m 17 I’m 17 I’m 17.”
“Oh no!! I’m afraid that’s a very bad bed bug!! Ii can take that from you!!” another wrote.
TikToker @Nat_21_nicole asked the same question in a May 8 video before panning to a blue-eyed bug.
Per usual bed bug fashion, this “adorable one” was seen clinging to a pink blanket, the video showed.
This “may be the cutest baby I’ve ever seen,” one person said.
@Paigejensen3 showed off her 8-month-old bed bug who honored users’ TikTok feeds with a toothless smile from ear to ear, the May 2 video showed.
The video had users longing for a baby they haven’t had yet, or changing their mind entirely on having children with one person saying, “Maybe I do want kids.”
“I miss my future baby,” someone wrote.
User @Jess.green17 took part in the trend May 5 by telling viewers, “I just found a bedbug next to me.”
This giggly bug can be seen showing off its antennas and giving viewers a closer look at its “gummy smiles.”
“Yall making me want a bedbug so badly when I can hardly even afford myself,” another wrote.
