Powerball jackpot soars to $700 million in US. When was it last won?
A Powerball player could win $700 million in the next drawing on Saturday, Aug. 23, lottery officials say.
Nobody won the grand prize in the drawing Wednesday, Aug. 20, boosting the jackpot to an estimated $700 million, with a cash value of about $316.3 million, the national Powerball site said.
The jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
The biggest Powerball jackpot in history, worth $2.04 billion, was won in 2022 by a California player, the New York Times said.
In the latest drawing, a ticket sold in Tennessee won $2 million. Tickets sold in Michigan and Oklahoma won $1 million each.
More than 1.1 million other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The winning numbers were 31, 59, 62, 65 and 68 with a Powerball of 5. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
What to know about Powerball
To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.
Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.
Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
