15-year-old, 4 others stabbed during ‘large-scale brawl’ at car meet, VA cops say
A man is accused of stabbing multiple people when a fight escalated at an impromptu car meet in Virginia, deputies said.
Deputies responded to a stabbing early July 20, describing a “chaotic scene,” the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office said in a July 21 news release.
A fight broke out at a car meet and escalated into a “large-scale brawl,” leading to the stabbings, deputies said.
Some victims were taken to a hospital in personal cars, deputies said. Responding officers provided other victims with medical aid and took them to a hospital, according to deputies.
There were five victims, all between 15 and 20 years old, according to deputies.
One person, Lenox Shelton, was charged with malicious wounding, deputies said.
He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond, according to deputies.
“Tragic incidents like this continue to highlight the ongoing challenge of senseless youth violence in our communities,” deputies said.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending, deputies said.
Spotsylvania County is about a 65-mile drive southwest from Washington, D.C.
