Roommate stabbed in the neck dies in argument over $15, Minnesota cops say

A man accused of killing one of his roommates in an argument over $15 said his other housemates “were lucky they didn’t get in his way,” Minnesota authorities say.

Officers in Minneapolis discovered blood on the walls and floor of a home July 6 after responding to a report of a stabbing, according to a statement of probable cause.

The victim, identified by WCCO and Bring Me The News as 25-year-old Abdirahman Adan Abdirahman, was found stabbed in the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Officers also discovered a bloody knife at the home.

Officers obtained surveillance footage which they said showed Abdirahman and one of his roommates, 21-year-old Sincir Malik Porter, in an argument over $15. Porter was seen using his right hand to stab Abdirahman in the neck, according to the court documents.

“(Abdirahman) appeared to get into a fighting stance before he realized he had been stabbed and collapsed to the ground,” police said.

Porter fled after the stabbing, but officers said in the probable cause statement that he was later located. Porter is accused of telling the arresting officer, “Yeah, you got me.”

While in police custody, Porter admitted to stabbing his roommate, according to the court documents.

“(Porter) discussed how he thought about killing (Abdirahman) and his other roommates in the past,” police said. “(Porter) stated that the roommates were lucky they didn’t get in his way.”

Porter was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, according to police. He remains in custody as of July 10 on $1 million bail.
