Man gave 31-year-old condoms so he could sexually abuse a minor, Missouri cops say

One man provided a place to stay and condoms to a 31-year-old man so he could sexually abuse a minor, Missouri officials said.

A grand jury handed down a slew of charges for Travis Kalchbrenner and another man in a March 20 indictment in Cole County, according to court documents.

McClatchy News is not naming the second suspect to protect the identity of the victim.

Kalchbrenner’s attorney could not be reached for comment. The second suspect’s attorney information was not listed.

Kalchbrenner was driven to the home where the victim lived, according to the indictment. He was permitted to stay in the same room as the victim.

Between Jan. 27 and March 14, Kalchbrenner sexually abused the juvenile, the indictment said. The other man provided condoms to Kalchbrenner, according to the indictment.

Kalchbrenner was charged with rape, sodomy, statutory rape, statutory sodomy, sexual abuse and child molestation.

The second suspect was charged with abuse or neglect of a child, endangering the welfare of a child, rape as an accessory, sodomy as an accessory, statutory rape as an accessory, statutory sodomy as an accessory, sexual abuse as an accessory, child molestation as an accessory.

Both are held without bond in Cole County Jail.

Cole County is about a 140-mile drive west from St. Louis.
