Salvation Army cook sexually assaults 11-year-old girl in his truck, Nebraska cops say
While being interviewed for an unnrelated sexual assault case, an 11-year-old girl told Nebraska officers that she was also inappropriately touched by a Salvation Army cook, police said.
The 37-year-old man had approached her multiple times at the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center in Omaha, police said, and would say things such as “you know I like you,” according to an affidavit filed in October 2024.
Corlondo Montgomery was arrested on March 18 and was charged with sexual assault of a child, according to jail records. He’s held on a $200,000 bond.
His attorney information was not available. McClatchy News reached out to the Salvation Army on March 21 but did not immediately receive a response.
One night in 2023, Montgomery parked on a hill near the girl’s home, police said. Her mother, for an unknown reason, told her daughter to go to the man’s truck, according to court documents.
When she got in the vehicle, police say he inappropriately touched her over her clothes.
The girl told police this made her uncomfortable, so she got out of the truck and went back to her home, authorities said.
Montgomery, who the girl also knew from church, was later in the home with her mother, according to the affidavit. He stopped the child and asked if she was OK , police said, but the girl went into her room.
The girl’s mother initially refused to cooperate with police, the affidavit said. The document also said the girl and her 13-year-old brother had been removed from the mother’s custody in the past due to neglect.
The mother gave police a mixed story about Montgomery’s presence in the home during a December 2023 interview, police said.
Montgomery is also under investigation for allegations of sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in 2020, the affidavit said.
