Man armed with high-powered airgun shoots at tree workers, Massachusetts cops say
A Massachusetts man used a high-powered airgun to shoot at tree workers, police said.
Officers responded Dec. 31 to reports of a bullet hole in a home in Marstons Mills, according to a Jan. 1 news release from the Barnstable Police Department.
About 30 minutes after clearing the scene, police received a 911 call from the same area saying a person armed with what looked like a rifle was shooting at tree workers, according to police.
Responding officers encountered 34-year-old Kyle Stacey before he ran into his house and refused to come out, authorities said.
Police said an investigation revealed Stacey was the person shooting at tree workers.
“Due to the nature of the call, members from the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team, Barnstable Police K-9 Unit, and Barnstable Police Detective Unit also responded to the scene,” police said in the release.
Stacey eventually came out of his home and was taken into custody, police said.
While executing a search warrant, police found .30 caliber projectiles, firearm cleaning tools and multiple airguns, including one with an attached scope, according to authorities.
“The Vulcan 3 .30 caliber airgun has the capability to fire both .25 and .30 caliber lead projectiles up to a velocity of 1,000 Feet Per Second utilizing compressed air,” authorities said.
Stacey is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, vandalism and resisting arrest, police said. Attorney information for Stacey was not available.
Police said Stacey was ordered to be held on $15,000 cash bail.
Marstons Mills is about a 65-mile drive southeast from Boston.
