Kittens found abandoned in a taped-up box at California shelter. They need new homes
A shelter employee heard “faint meowing” when she got to work and found a taped-up box with kittens inside, a California nonprofit said.
Seven crying kittens had been abandoned in the box with no air holes on Oct. 29, Pasadena Humane said in a Facebook post.
The box had “kittens” written on the outside of it, the nonprofit said.
Workers checked out the cats and deemed them unharmed.
Now, the shelter is reminding the public about abandoning animals in unsafe ways, like how these kittens were left without air.
“If you are unable to care for an animal, please reach out to us so we can assist you further,” the shelter said.
Some of the kittens are ready for adoption, Kevin McManus, a spokesperson for the humane society, told McClatchy News by email.
Three of the kittens won’t be up for an adoption for a few days.
“They’re all a little scared, but now that they’re settling in here, we think they’ll get more comfortable once they’re here for a couple of days,” McManus said.
