Ninja Kitty is ‘by far the stealthiest senior,’ NC shelter says. She needs a new home
A 12-year-old shelter cat is “by far the stealthiest senior you’ll ever meet” — and she needs a new home.
“This retired ninja master has traded in her late-night missions for long, sun-drenched naps,” a North Carolina animal shelter wrote Oct. 20 on Facebook. “But don’t be fooled — Ninja Kitty still has the precision and mindfulness of her prime. She practices her stealth from the perfect vantage point: your windowsill, where she monitors the birds and squirrels with laser focus (and without moving a muscle).”
The Watauga Humane Society said Ninja Kitty is up for adoption after her owner died. Neighbors cared for her and 12 other cats before she was surrendered.
At the shelter, Ninja Kitty has become known for being “silent but loyal.” She also soaks up affection, making it difficult for the shelter to take photos of her.
“I often joke that the hardest part of my job is taking pictures of the animals and miss Ninja did not disappoint,” Danielle Deschamps, communications coordinator, told McClatchy News in an email. “She was craving love and attention and would get so close to me and snuggle up on my lap that it was nearly impossible to take a shot where she wasn’t moving around me begging for pets. She is a sweetheart and just wants to be loved!”
Ninja Kitty has a mysterious side, and her “secret mission” is managing her diabetes. The shelter said she needs to be matched with a new owner who will handle her medical care and asks potential adopters to email medical@wataugahumane.org for more information about her condition.
As of Oct. 23, Ninja Kitty was still available for adoption in Boone, a mountain town that sustained damage from Hurricane Helene. Details about the adoption process at the shelter, a roughly 85-mile drive west from Winston-Salem, can be found at wataugahumane.org.
“If you’re ready for a silent but loyal companion, one who embodies the true spirit of a ninja (mysterious, calm, and resilient), Ninja Kitty is waiting to join your clan,” the animal organization wrote.
