Shelter dog ‘could not contain his excitement’ when adopted. See the joyous photo
A family “fell in love” with a shelter dog — then came their “once in a lifetime” adoption photo.
The Mississippi Animal Rescue League captured the joyous moment when Bear finally was matched with his new owners. The picture shows him in a blur as he jumps onto his hind legs with enthusiasm.
“Bear was so happy and excited to meet his new family and he knew he was going home,” the Jackson-based shelter wrote Sept. 8 on Facebook. “He could not contain his excitement and that is the best dog smile ever.”
The heartwarming adoption came after the 1-year-old dog’s previous owners had to move. While Bear waited for a second chance, the shelter in a social media post said it wanted the dog-loving pup to have outdoor space.
Then one day, he met a family that couldn’t wait to take him home. Now, Bear will have a canine sister and the backyard he craved.
“Dawn and Cam Hoge fell in love with this big goofy boy and we know why,” the shelter wrote. “Who could resist his smile?”
