Dog at Texas animal shelter for over 500 days finally finds her ‘perfect match’
A long-term resident at a Texas animal shelter has finally found a new home.
A dog named Zoi had been at the Gulf Coast Humane Society for over 500 days, according to an Aug. 30 Facebook post.
The American Staffordshire terrier survived “a severe case of heartworms that nearly claimed her life,” the shelter said in a March post.
Recently, she became one of 29 animals adopted from the shelter.
“This wonderful family visited Zoi day after day, making sure she was the perfect fit for their home,” the shelter said. “Each visit only deepened their connection, and soon it became clear that Zoi had found her perfect match.”
Zoi’s waiting was not for nothing, according to the shelter. She is now “surrounded by the love and warmth of her very own family.”
The Gulf Coast Humane Society is a nonprofit organization in Corpus Christi. It cares for roughly 3,000 cats and dogs each year.
