18-year-old crashes motorcycle, is killed by truck while lying in road, Alabama cops say
A teenager lost control of his motorcycle and ended up on the pavement when, moments later, a car struck and killed him before he could get up, Alabama police say.
At around 11 p.m. on Sept. 19, police responded to a crash reported on a roadway in Dothan, Alabama, according to a statement. Blade Corley, an 18-year-old of Cottonwood, had “lost control” of the motorcycle he was driving on the 300 block of Ross Clark Circle and ended up on the ground, officials told McClatchy News.
Police said they don’t know the extent of his injuries from only the initial wreck, but Corley was talking while lying on the pavement and had asked a witness to move his bike out of the road.
Moments later, before he could get up, a pickup truck that “never saw him on the ground” struck and killed him, police said.
McClatchy News reached out to some of Corley’s family for comment on Sept. 21 but did not immediately receive response. No charges have been filed at this time, according to police.
Dothan is about 100 miles northwest of Tallahassee, Florida.
