Watch pigeon who can’t fly and baby chihuahua who struggles to walk become best buds

Everybody needs a friend — even pigeons and puppies.

Lundy, an 8-week-old chihuahua who has trouble walking, and Herman, a pigeon who can’t fly, have become best friends. The two are both at The Mia Foundation in Rochester, New York.

Herman was brought to The Mia Foundation, which rescues animals born with defects, several years ago, according to People. He can’t fly, likely because of a brain injury or West Nile Virus.

Then Herman met Lundy. Lundy can’t use his back legs and needs to get stronger before he can be adopted, CNN reported.

When the two met, neither one was aggressive toward the other, CNN reported. The Mia Foundation posted adorable photos to prove it.

“Thursday night I took Herman out of his playpen to give him some time out and I put him in a dog bed and then I had to tend to Lundy so I put Lundy in with him,” Sue Rogers, who runs The Mia Foundation, told WHEC. “They just looked really cute together so I took some pictures and posted them to Facebook and the next morning it was crazy.”

The donations have poured in since the images went viral. Rogers told WHEC that more than $6,000 has been donated since she posted the photos.

“I think the world needs good stories,” she told WHEC. “And when you have two species that basically fall in love, it can only touch hearts.”
