A staff member at Florida International University has tested positive for COVID-19, the university said in a mass email on Tuesday.

In the email, the university said the employee is likely a travel-related case and has not been back on campus since the staff member returned from a trip. FIU believes because the employee has not been back at the school “there is no indication, thus far, that the FIU community has been exposed by this individual.”

A university spokeswoman declined to say more about the employee and where the staff member had traveled.

FIU says to increase social distancing practices, campuses are closed to all visitors. Only students, faculty and staff with urgent need to access study or work material, and a limited number of residents approved to stay in student housing are allowed on campuses.

On Tuesday, the University of Miami said one of its medical campus members tested presumptive positive for COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not yet confirmed the case.

On Saturday, Nova Southeastern University and the Broward County Health Department confirmed six people affiliated with the university tested positive for COVID-19. The six traveled to Ireland.
