Broward Sheriff’s Office IDs woman killed in Deerfield Beach crash
Authorities identified a woman killed in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday in Deerfield Beach, citing excessive speed as a possible contributing factor in the collision, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Fedeline Alexis Saint Cyr, 59, of Pompano Beach, was pronounced dead around 1:39 p.m. at the crash site, BSO said Wednesday.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Jean Claude Saint Cyr, 63, was driving a Land Rover Discovery north on Northeast Third Avenue, BSO said. At the same time, Antwon Nahshon Brand was stopped at a stop sign in a 2023 Nissan Rogue at the Northeast 44th Street intersection when it was rear-ended by the Land Rover.
The Land Rover ricocheted off the Rogue and struck a 2015 Nissan NV200, which was launched backward and came to a stop in the southbound lanes, BSO said. The Land Rover tumbled over and rolled until it came to a rest mid-block near a sidewalk.
Fedeline Alexis Saint Cyr, who was a passenger in the Land Rover, was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over, BSO said. The front axle of the SUV was ripped off, and the engine was ejected. It is unclear how the Saint Cyrs were related.
The Rogue rolled over, too, BSO said. The driver was ejected, and the car came to rest against the front porch of a residence on the northeast corner of the intersection.
“The driver was located near the front porch partially under the vehicle,” BSO said.
The three drivers were taken to Broward Health North in Pompano Beach for treatment. Authorities didn’t reveal the extent of their injuries.
Deputies are investigating and charges are pending, BSO said.
