After rapper Offset’s shooting at Guitar Hotel, police arrest Lil Tjay

Police have arrested a man in connection with a fight at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino that led to the shooting of rapper Offset on Monday night. The suspect also is a well-known hip-hop artist known as Lil Tjay.

Offset, 34, a former member of the Georgia hip-hop group Migos and the ex-husband of rapper Cardi B, remained at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for treatment of “non-life threatening injuries” Tuesday morning, according to Seminole police.

Offset, whose name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was shot during a fight in the valet parking area outside the Guitar Hotel, near Hollywood on State Road 7, around 7 p.m., said Seminole Police Department spokesman Gary Bitner.

Online celebrity news site TMZ was first to report about the shooting.

So far, one man, 24-year-old Tione Jayden Merritt, has been arrested on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct - affray. An affray is a fight.

Lil Tjay has more than 8 million followers on Instagram and is signed to Columbia Records.

The police have not released more details, and the Miami Herald has requested an arrest report. Merritt remained in Broward County jail with a $500 bond Tuesday morning.

Police detained another person when they arrived at the hotel, but there was no arrest or charges as of Tuesday, Bitner said.

Seminole police said they are still investigating to “identify one or more additional persons involved in the incident.”
