A man was pistol-whipped and his French bulldog stolen, according to Miramar police.

Police on Monday said they responded to a Spotshotter alert indicating possible gunfire in the 3100 block of Southwest 128th Terrace. When officers arrived, they said they found a shell casing.

Police said they also found a man inured from a pistol-whipping. He was evaluated at the scene and was cleared by Miramar Fire Rescue, according to police.

The injured man told police that several people arrived and took his French bulldog. The dog, police said, was later recovered in the area.

Police said they are investigating. No other information was released.
