TSA agent confesses to having child porn videos after deadly raid, report says
A TSA agent detained during a Tuesday raid amid an ongoing child pornography investigation admitted to detectives that he possessed multiple videos of children being sexually abused, according to his Miami-Dade Sheriff’s arrest report.
During the raid on the house at Southwest 155th Street and 102nd Place in the Palmetto Estates neighborhood, Special Response Teams’ deputies opened fire on a man holding a gun, 21-year-old Christopher Barata, killing him.

Deputies detained another man in the house, 25-year-old Cristian Barata, who was the focus of the investigation. The sheriff’s office has not said whether Christopher Barata, Cristian’s brother, was part of the child pornography investigation.
When deputies arrived at the house around 5:30 a.m., they demanded everyone inside come out. Two adults and a child exited the home unharmed. But, then Christopher Barata appeared at the door before he was shot, according to the sheriff’s office. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
After the shooting, deputies say Cristian Barata was in the hallway of the home and detained him. When detectives interviewed him around 6 p.m., he invoked his right to remain silent, according to his arrest report. About an hour later, he changed his mind and confessed to possessing the videos, the report states.
TSA employee
Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami reported that both Cristian and Christopher Barata were Transportation Security Administration agents.
“The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has no tolerance for criminal behavior or misconduct on- or off-duty,” a TSA spokesperson said in a statement to the station. “The TSA employee involved has had his access to all secure areas of the airport immediately revoked and has been removed from all duties, pending the outcome of the case.”
The victims in the videos ranged from infants to 6-year-old children, according to the sheriff’s office.
Tips about child porn videos
The investigation began in October 2024 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received multiple tips from an internet service provider that someone was uploading child pornography, according to the report.
The information was provided to the sheriff’s office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, whose detectives determined Cristian Barata was the one who uploaded the videos, the report states.
He is being held at Turner Guilford Correctional Center on a bond of $87,500 on 15 counts of possessing child pornography and 10 counts of attempting to promote child pornography.
