One person shot dead at a Fort Lauderdale supermarket. Then, someone else was shot nearby

One person was killed and another person was hospitalized in two Christmas Day shootings about 95 minutes apart in time and a half mile apart geographically, Fort Lauderdale police said.

“I do not have any information suggesting the two shootings are related,” Fort Lauderdale police detective Ali Adamson said in a Wednesday night email.

Police are looking for information on the shooters.

The person shot around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday was taken from the parking lot of the Presidente Supermarket at 1035 NW Ninth Ave. to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Then, at around 12:50 p.m., police found someone shot at Northwest Eighth Street and 10th Terrace who paramedics took to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
