Police are searching for a man who they say shot and killed his stepfather inside their Plantation home.

On Saturday, 27-year-old Haile Selaisse Richards fatally shot his stepfather, 57-year-old Clayous Peart, at 7085 W. Sunrise Blvd., according to police.

Police say Richards’ mother and wife of Peart witnessed the shooting.

Richards fled in his mother’s car but crashed it near the 6500 block of West Sunrise Boulevard, according to police.

He has been on the run since.

Officers have set up search perimeters, using police dogs and the Broward Sheriff’s Office aviation technology but have yet to find him as of Tuesday morning.

He is wanted for first-degree murder.

Richards is five-foot-five and about 120 pounds, with a large R.I.P. Cross Tattoo on his right shoulder, according to police.

Police detectives ask the public to contact their local authorities and Broward County Crime Stoppers with any information in this case. Tipsters will remain anonymous, and are eligible for a reward up to $10,000 if information leads to an arrest.
