A 16-year-old Wilton Manors boy was fatally shot when he and another teen were playing with guns Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

A 16-year-old boy was killed when he and another teen were playing with guns and one of the firearms was discharged, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Granados was found dead inside a Wilton Manors apartment located at 403 NW 25th St. around 2:30 p.m. Monday by Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale police officers, according to the sheriff’s office, which took over the investigation.

Paramedics took Granados to the hospital, where deputies say he was later pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said that another 16-year-old boy told detectives that he and Granados were playing with firearms and one of them went off, striking the teen.

Detectives arrested the boy, whom the sheriff’s office did not name, on one count of manslaughter with a firearm. The relationship between the teens was not immediately available.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate the case, including finding out who owns the firearms the teens were handling and how the boys were able to access them, the sheriff’s office said.
