Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager inside a Wilton Manors apartment building Monday afternoon.

Officers with the Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale police department — as well as Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue paramedics — arrived at the apartment building located a 403 NW 25th Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a shooting, deputies say.

They found the victim, whom the sheriff’s office identified as 16-year-old Christopher Granados, shot inside a multi-family residential unit, according to the sheriff’s office, which has taken over the investigation.

Paramedics took Granados to the hospital, where deputies say he was later pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement that the “shooting was contained to the residence and there was not threat to the community.” The agency did not respond to a follow-up question asking to clarify that statement.
