Bad: getting sideswiped into a crash. Worse: staring at a gun during the information exchange

A criminal pulled an armed robbery after via an automotive smash-and-grab on Miami Avenue, police said.

Tuesday around 7 p.m., Miami police said, a driver got sideswiped around North 77th Street and Miami Avenue. The crash collected two other cars.

When the driver of the sideswiped car got out to exchange insurance information, the driver who hit him had a gun out to back up his demand for money. What seemed to be poor driving was a robbery setup.

The robber skedaddled while firing at the car he crashed.

Three people were taken to the hospital, including the victim. Injuries didn’t appear serious, police said.
