One man arrested and one suspect on the run in Miami gas station stabbing, police say
Of the three men involved in an April 28 fight at a Little Havana gas station, one went to the hospital in critical condition, one sits in Miami-Dade County jail and the biggest one remains at large.
The third man is the biggest both physically and in charges he’ll likely face — he’s the one who Miami police believe stabbed the first man. Miami police released surveillance video, asking for the public’s help finding him.
He is described just as a “white, Hispanic male.” On the video, he’s seen inside the Valero station at 1800 W. Flagler St. walking up to the counter, his sleeveless white top restraining but not hiding his stomach and male breasts. He has a mop of dark hair.
Police arrested 33-year-old Marvin Alvarez, five-foot-four, 150 pounds, on a misdemeanor battery charge. Alvarez remains in Miami-Dade County Corrections’ Turner-Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $10,000 bond.
According to the arrest report, witnesses identified Alvarez as one of the two men doing the attacking around 3:07 a.m. outside the Valero. Alvarez did the punching and his partner did the stabbing, witnesses said.
Alvarez has three misdemeanor battery convictions among his seven previous arrests for battery in some form. Battery trails only disorderly intoxication (nine cases, one conviction) among Alvarez’s 26 previous encounters with Miami-Dade County’s criminal justice system.
