A Miami Beach hit-and-run hospitalized a woman. Cops are looking for a Mercedes driver
TUESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: Miami Beach police say the Mercedes was found in Aventura Tuesday morning. The driver remains at large.
A Mercedes driver crashed into a female pedestrian Saturday night in Miami Beach, launching her into the air. She is in Jackson Memorial Hospital, police say, and the driver is the subject of a police search.
Tinted windows prevent a description of the driver. As for the car, Miami Beach police say it’s a 2019 white Mercedes-Benz sedan, with tinted windows, a sunroof, Florida license plate NQHC83 and “should have front end damage.”
The incident happened at 9:04 p.m. at 44th Street and Collins Avenue, near the Fontainbleau hotel. Miami Beach city surveillance cameras show the Mercedes going south on Collins and striking someone crossing from the west side of the street (right to left). The driver made a U-turn at 43rd Street and left, going north.
After the impacts of the car and the pavement, the woman, who police believe to be in her 60s, has had to go through more than one surgery at Jackson’s Ryder Trauma Center.
Anyone who knows anything about the Mercedes or the driver can call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 (TIPS).
