One arrest made in Exxon station robbery. Video shows it was a three-man job

A Crime Stoppers tip and a victim’s identification led to the arrest of a Fort Lauderdale-area felon in connection with a March Exxon station robbery.

Tony Lee, 46, faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary with assault or battery, grand theft between $750 and $5,000, and wearing a mask while committing a second-degree felony.

Whatever mask Lee wore, BSO investigators say it didn’t prevent the overnight March 9 clerk at Exxon, 600 NW 27th Ave., from identifying Lee as the one who stole his cellphone during the robbery. Lee has done five turns in Florida prisons for grand theft, robbery and battery among other charges.

Surveillance video showed the cellphone thief wearing a black hoodie with “Power” on the front and “Boss up or sit down” on the back. Lee is at Broward Sheriff’s Office’s North Broward Bureau with a bond of $14,500.

Video shows the cellphone theft occurred after another thief engaged in a sort of smash and grab — smashed the clerk down with a left cross, then grabbed the cash register drawer.
