Tropical Park shooter is arrested months after nearly killing a man, police say

Miami-Dade Police Department

More than three months after an 18-year-old was shot in the chest in Tropical Park, Miami-Dade police have found the man they say is responsible.

Bryan Hopiher, 21, was arrested and charged Thursday with attempted murder, court records show.

On Nov. 22, a couple was sitting inside their car while parked at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th St., when Hopiher walked up and tried to open the passenger door.

It was locked, so Hopiher pulled out a gun and shot into the front passenger window, hitting an 18-year-old man inside in the chest, police say. The man was taken to Kendall Regional trauma center and has recovered after being in critical but stable condition.

Hopiher was not given a bond and remains in a Miami-Dade jail.
