A gas station robbery led to a gas station carjacking, both on this busy Broward street
An armed robbery and a carjacking linked two Pines Boulevard gas stations Wednesday night, Pembroke Pines police say.
At the end of it all, 21-year-old Pines resident Cameron Hobdy was arrested on an armed robbery charge with more possible charges to come.
Pembroke Pines police say at around 11:18 Wednesday night, Hobdy pulled an armed robbery at a Marathon, 10070 Pines Blvd., then left on foot. Before police found Hobdy, they said he found a victim to carjack at the Chevron a half-mile west at 10255 Pines Blvd.
Officers tried to stop Hobdy, who drove through the attempted halt. But he soon jumped out of the car and was arrested.
Wednesday marked two weeks since Hobdy was granted pretrial release on burglary and loitering charges. A Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest form from that Jan. 25 incident in Cooper City says Hobdy looked into parked cars and set off a car alarm when trying to get into one. When the BSO deputy asked Hobdy to sit down and put his hands behind his back, the form said, he sat down before trying to skedaddle.
He aborted that attempt when the deputy drew her Taser. The report says Hobdy later admitted to looking for a car to steal.
