Stretch of Ives Dairy Road in Northeast Dade shut for hours after fatal shooting

Police are asking for help in finding the shooter who killed a man and wounded another on a busy stretch of Ives Dairy Road, just east of Interstate 95 Monday evening.

The men were traveling east when someone inside a vehicle shot at their blue Dodge. The car crashed and the suspect or suspects then took off, according to Miami-Dade police.

When officers arrived at the intersection of Ives Dairy Road and Northeast 24th Avenue just after 5:30 p.m., they found two men with gunshot wounds, police said. The road was shut down for hours.

One man was struck in the head and the other was hit in his upper body. Both men, who police say are in their early 20s, were taken to Aventura Hospital. One of them died.

Police have not disclosed the names of the victims.

Investigators say it’s still unclear if the fatal shooting was caused by road rage. They also don’t have any description of how the shooter looked or what type of vehicle they were in — but they believe someone in the community must have seen something.

Anyone with information on the fatal shooting is asked to call police.
