Armed carjackers trying to escape crash into cruiser, cops say — and 2 are on the run

Police are searching for a pair of carjackers who they say escaped after crashing into a police cruiser.

A driver’s car was taken by the two armed carjackers in the area of Northwest 69th Street and North Miami Avenue around 5 a.m. Monday, according to Miami police.

It was not immediately clear if the victim was injured.

A Miami-Dade police officer later spotted the stolen 2004 silver Nissan reportedly at a Sunoco gas station in the area of Northwest 119th Street and 24th Avenue.

When the officer tried to stop them, the carjackers crashed into his cruiser and ran away, said a Miami-Dade police spokesman.

One of the suspects was taken into custody. Police said they are still searching for two others.

No other information about them was immediately available.

The officer was not injured.

Anyone with info on the carjacking is asked to call police.
